Consult An Electrician For Big Electrical Jobs
Secrets on How to Pass the Master Electrician Exam
It’s tough being an electrician. It’s not as simple as fixing broken appliances and connecting wires. Electricians have to follow a Code and pass several tests in order to get a license. They have to perform competent work to guarantee the public’s safety and health. Licenses are there to help guard the public by preventing untrained and inexperienced people from performing the job.
The electrician’s license is a legal and formal document. It has to be renewed regularly, and inappropriate use can cause automatic termination of the license. Licenses of electricians who perform illegal or immoral jobs can be suspended or revoked by the government. In order to get this certification, you have to comply with requirements, which usually vary from one state to another.
*News* Generally, you are required to have work experience before you can take a test. You should work in compliance with the law for a specified number of hours, and under a master electrician, who will then verify for your qualifications by signing an affidavit stating so. The state licensing board will then validate your credentials and afterwards, schedule an exam for you.
The exam is quite challenging, particularly if you don’t prepare for it. Tests are usually in written form and will assess your knowledge of electrical theory, the National Electric Code (NEC) and any local electric construction codes. Since exams are open-book, do bring with you an updated NEC copy and maybe other books including the NEC Handbook, American Electrician’s Handbook, Ferm’s Fast Finder and other materials.
Bring whatever items are permitted. If you are permitted to bring a set of index tabs attached to your Code book in your state, bring one. Using it will save you a lot of precious time. You may also be allowed to bring pencils, scratch paper, calculator, and other test items. However, highly programmed electronic calculators that can calculate problems based on the NEC are typically not allowed. Using simple calculators would be fine.

It's the first show of the new year and decade. Mark and Clark talk about, well, nothing that they planned on.
Expect to spend a lot of time studying. About 15 hours a week for a year of studying should suffice. When you’re working with a journeyman’s license already, make sure to do everything up to Code. Example, if you are running EMT, check out Article 358 and follow all Code requirements. Your work experience will help you answer the questions in the exam.
Don’t make an effort of memorizing the Code. It’s unnecessary and just about downright impossible for others. What you can do is learn the structure of the Code so that you can look up anything immediately. It is helpful to memorize chapter headings and be skilled in using the Table of Contents and Index. So when you take the exam, you can find the answers to some questions almost instantly, and thus save time for the more difficult questions.
Memorizing the internal structures of some articles will also help. Include articles 240 Overcurrent Protection, 250 Grounding and Bonding, and 430 Motors, Motor Circuits and Controllers in your study. Make an extra effort to thoroughly know the Code’s structure. Because you are familiar with the Code’s structure, you can easily pinpoint the location of answers and save time. This will surely help you pass the electrician exam.
